A Wonderful Obsession - Catherine Fitzgerald
It is not just the scenery of Provence and Tuscany that draws me to these regions; it's the people, their culture, traditions, and preoccupation with enjoying the present.
My paintings are produced in a state of euphoria, in that I have been seduced by all that is Provence and Tuscany. It is my hope others see in my work a feel for those regions, and their addictive lifestyle.
The works in this exhibition reflect my visit late Summer early Autumn when the landscape is still abundant with flowers, where you are not only intoxicated with their perfume; the ever present cyprus trees; but the surreal feel of your surroundings. It is as if time stands still - where the locals live in time rather than against it.
I suspect there is no cure for my obsession.
Catherine Fitzgerald is a full time professional artist who has won numerous awards for her watercolours including the Camberwell Art Show and has been featured in Arts and Antiques magazine and Australian Artists magazine. Catherine has an amazing visual awareness and her work portrays her sensitive style. She also paints oil on canvas and her work can be commissioned in any style, subject or size.
